Pickleball Net Price Guide: What Affects Wholesale Cost?

Oct 12, 2026 · 4 min read

If you are comparing pickleball net prices across suppliers, you will notice quotes for what looks like the same 22-ft net can differ by 30% or more. In almost every case, the gap comes down to four levers: frame material, netting quality, customization scope and order quantity.

1. Frame material is the biggest cost driver

Entry-level nets use thin steel tube (around 19–22 mm diameter, 0.8 mm wall). Mid-range and premium nets move to 25 mm tube at 1.0 mm wall, which survives repeated assembly and outdoor storage. Aluminum frames cost more but cut shipping weight — worth it if your customers carry the net to courts weekly. When you ask for a quote, always specify tube diameter and wall thickness, not just "steel frame".

2. Netting: ply and knot style matter more than color

A 5-ply polyester knotless net is the common baseline for training nets. Heavier 12-ply PE knotted netting costs more but lasts several seasons outdoors. For resale, matching the netting spec to your market positioning (budget vs club-grade) is the easiest way to protect margin without over-engineering the product.

3. Customization adds cost — but less than you think

• Size — non-standard widths are cheap to produce; the cutting and sewing lines adjust freely.
• Color & fabric — 420D vs 600D oxford fabric changes both price and perceived quality.
• Logo printing & packaging — private-label cartons and printed carry bags usually carry a small one-time setup cost, then pennies per unit at volume.

4. Quantity: where the real discount lives

Most factories price in tiers. A 100-set trial order might be 15–20% above the 500-set price, and a full container brings the unit cost down further. If you are testing a market, ask for a low-MOQ trial price and the tiered price list in the same quote — it tells you exactly when reorders become profitable.

A practical tip before you compare quotes

Send every supplier the same one-line spec — for example: "22 ft pickleball net, 25×1.0 mm powder-coated steel frame, 5-ply polyester knotless net, 420D oxford carry bag, custom color, 300 sets." Identical specs make quotes comparable, and vague specs make the cheapest quote the most dangerous one.
